Action Alert: Phone Bank for Mikie Sherrill 10/23

CWA Endorses Mikie Sherrill for Governor

The fight for the future of New Jersey is here. Our rights are under attack, our wallets are being emptied by corporate greed, and we need a Governor who won’t just hear us, but will lead the charge alongside us.

Join us on Thursday, October 23rd to call union voters in New Jersey for Mikie Sherrill for Governor! CWA President Claude Cummings & Mikie Sherrill will be joining us for this important meeting.

With 40,000 NJ State Workers represented by CWA, the State of New Jersey is one of the biggest employers in this Union — meaning New Jersey’s governor doesn’t just play a role in the overall affordability and strength of our state, we’re also essentially electing our members’ boss. We need to make sure we elect someone who we know is on our side.

This isn’t just about politics. It’s about our members’ contracts, jobs, and future. Only Mikie Sherrill has pledged to fully fund our pension, work with us to contain healthcare costs, and maintain telework for state workers. Her opponent has pledged that his first official act should he win, would be to completely end the telework program we have fought five years for!

This phonebank is being held virtually over Zoom, so you can join from anywhere. A zoom link will be sent out before October 23rd. CWA recommends connecting to the Zoom call via a Desktop or Laptop computer. Calls will be made on your own device, but your phone number will not be visible to anyone you call.

WHY THIS MATTERS

This isn’t just about politics, it’s about your contracts, your jobs, and your future. It matters who the governor is, he/she is ultimately your boss.  CWA is supporting Mikie Sherrill for Governor and Dale Caldwell as Lt. Governor, who are committed to protecting workers’ rights. CWA and the AFL-CIO have endorsed candidates in both political parties all over the state who have given their commitment to stand up for organized labor and state workers.

As CWA Local 1031 President Kathy Hernandez said: “We need a consistent presence and large contingents to come out in every county, so we urge you to get involved.”

CWA Action Alert When We Fight, We Win!We need to take action NOW.

In the final days of Fiscal Year 2026 budget negotiations for the state, Governor Murphy and the NJ State Legislature are trying to shift $100 million in healthcare costs onto us —breaking our contract and trying to balance the budget on our backs.

This is unacceptable.

Take 3 actions right now to demand that our elected leaders do their jobs and stand with us:
